Mechanised

Background

Remade Division
The 67th Panzer was formed of the remnants of the 67th Rifles after the battle for Armageddon. The Krieg Army needed a breakthrough unit that could smash through weakened defences and put an end to long sieges and battles of attrition. After fighting together with Steel Legion troopers the division adopted the mechanised doctrine and it was decided that it's remaining soldiers where to be mounted in Chimera Transports.

Cerberus Pattern Chimera
These Chimera Transports where redesigned to fit the divisions needs and available resources. Many prototypes were made, one resulting in the creation of the SturmGun. The current leader of the Obedus Squadron, General Hector Leiges, was at the time a well-known Tank Ace and a skilled engineer. He was the true father of the current Cerberus-pattern Chimera. He knew exactly what was needed and designed it himself. The new variant was cheaper, lighter and could be outfitted with an autocannon aswell as regular Chimera armaments. There were some minor drawbacks however, like slightly weaker side armour and weaker engine. These drawbacks were minor, especially the weaker engine which was compensated by the lighter total weight. Hector Leiges was promoted to General for his engineering skills, his skill in combat and his tactical abilities and he was given command of the Obedus Squadron.

The SturmGun Chimera
A design that was created during the creation of the Cerberus Pattern Chimera was the SturmGun. It functions as an infantry support tank, knocking out fortifications and heavy infantry. It is loosely based on the original chimera but has extremely reinforced armour. Usually most effective in streets, the SturmGun has a low profile enabling it to crawl along ruins, avoiding many incoming shots and sometimes, detection. The SturmGun mounts a Hull Mounted Demolisher Cannon but no other weapons. It was ment to function as a Thunderer but, at the time of its birth, Thunderers weren't widely available so it was made into it's own design.

Hector Leiges
The Famous Tank Commander who designed the Cerberus Pattern Chimera aswell as taking command of the Obedus Squadron. He is a mastermind tactician and a Tank Ace. Usually, he leads the Squadron from his modified Leman Russ although this is getting rarer due to the risks of frontline Command. So when he's not in his Russ he will deploy at the back, together with his command squad, in an Autocannon armed Cerberus Chimera.

The Siege of Theykr
When the Chaos Rebellion was initiated on Theykr, the first course of action was to call in elements of the 67th Panzer Division. The story of the battle was never recorded and few know what happened in combat. Needless to say, it was horrible enough for the division to requisition the need for heroism-inspiring chemicals. The engineers connected new devices into the rebreathers of the soldiers so that they inhale these "bravery" fumes as they are called. To avoid the slightest chance of doubt in the ranks, the Division actually adopted Chem Inhalers as standard equipment.

Combat Doctrine

An assault starts with fierce barrages of heavy artillery from an Artillery Company or if necessary, the deadly but sparse artillery fielded by the 67th. This mostly includes Earthshakers (towed or mounted on basilisks) and Thudd Guns. Heavier siege artillery is rarely used due to the short range on such weapons. After the thundering barrages have settled, groups of tanks, made up of every combat vehicle available, exploit every weakness in the enemy's lines, striking from several directions. After that, it is simply a matter of sheer and brute strength to push the enemy back or more often annihilate them completely. It is a tradition that commanders usually lead from the front, often from the hatch of a tank variant of their choice. This often leads to relatively short life expectancy of many commanders. Their death however, is honourable and many Krieg Soldiers actually aspire to die in such a way.

Motto

Zeal, thunder and glory!
